KRISTA NIGHTENGALE

AWARD RECIPIENT

Krista Nightengale, Honorary AIA Dallas and TxA, is the Executive Director of the Better Block. She began her career at D Magazine as Managing Editor and Executive Director of a leadership group aimed at empowering citizens to take action, and Executive Director of a literacy nonprofit that united the city in reading together. She then served as Chief of Staff of the Coalition for a New Dallas, an advocacy group that worked to reunite communities by removing an elevated highway between two neighborhoods in Dallas. Krista then launched Dallas Innovates, a news site that promotes Dallas-Fort Worth as a hub of innovation. While covering the city, Krista became intrigued by the built environment. Her passion for urban design and community engagement has ignited impactful projects that connect people with public spaces with meaningful purpose.

THE BECK GROUP

AWARD RECIPIENT

The Beck Group is a collaborative team of architects and builders transforming how its clients design and build. The century-old firm has ten offices across the U.S. and Mexico.

In addition to award-winning projects, Beck is proud to build people and communities. It creates a diverse and inclusive workplace through programs like The Beck School of Construction. The program helps minority-owned businesses build capacity to work with large general contractors and civic entities like Dallas County and City of Dallas.

The firm provides shelter for at-risk communities through its Beck Foundation. It recently partnered with Bonton Farms to build a tiny home in South Dallas. Beck has a history of pro bono work with nonprofits like Annie’s Place, Poetic, and Habitat for Humanity, and gives back through scholarships at local universities.

With a dedication to positively influencing our youth, Beck mentors at both CityLab High School and the Wilmer-Hutchins/Northlake P-Tech Program.

Beck cares, and its service improves the built environment and makes Dallas great.
